SOHC D header on ZC - Pics of alignment
I could never really visualize what everybody meant when they said how far the ports were shifted on a ZC vs SOHC D, so I took a pic. Here is all the holes about centered:
And here is the worst case, with the gasket pushed all the way up (exposing the most header):
Enjoy!

i thought the difference was huge also. it doesnt seem like itd hurt anything to leave it alone.
i was looking at ordering a kamikaze header because they say the ports are big enough that you dont need to port match anything. is this true? and what brand header is used in the demonstration above?

Sure doesnt look like a "big" deal but when you feel your car strain to get past 6000rpm it will become a problem.

Re: SOHC D header on ZC - Pics of alignment
i bought my car with a dc header, and im certain the guy didnt port match it. i dont know how far it is off, but it doesnt "strain past 6k". actually feels good. but i will look this weekend when i go turbo. but anyways, i was matching my gasket to my ebay t3 manifold, and the difference is pretty big. i dont know what kind of difference the variables make, but i have a felpro gasket, and an ebay mani. i would hope the dc header might be a little bigger, but the ports on the ebay mani are closer, and smaller.
wish i had a camera, but there is definitely a comparable difference between my new set up, and this one. plus, port matching isnt all that hard. take a carbide bit, dremel, sharpie, new gasket, etc, and go to town. well, maybe not to town, take your time, but it would take 2 hours tops, if you were being extra careful.

Re: SOHC D header on ZC - Pics of alignment
That doesn't look right. Looks like an ebay style gasket which is usally has slightly larger port holes than the OEM gaskets. Bellow are a few pictures that will show the difference is actually quite noticable.
here you can see an OEM replacment gasket looks like on the ZC. Notice how the ports line up perfect.
Here is a picture of the same gasket on a d16 flange. You can see how the ports do not line up at all.

Re: SOHC D header on ZC - Pics of alignment
that looks about right. i used a cheap felpro gasket, cus its all i could get right away, without special order. but it was off somewhere close to that. maybe a little less, but very similar.

A dremel tool and 25 minutes of your time (with beer) and it is fixed.
