ZC into Del Sol
Figured I would start this thread now, I have everything laid out to do the zc swap this friday. So as for whats going on Friday here is the scoop.
-Swapping out single core radiator for an aluminum dual core
-Putting the D15b7 transmission onto the ZC
-Installing new OBD1 alternator onto ZC
-Pulling the D15b8 and beat transmission out
-Swapping in the ZC.
-Swapping in modified p05/6 ecu with p29 maps
Well thats about the extent of whats going on. Will be a lot of swapping wires and hoses over to the ZC, which is expected. If anyones in the York area and wants to check it out or lend a hand, doubt anyone will seeing that its supposed to be like 23 degrees outside haha. But if anyone wants something to do Friday let me know. Pictures will be posted some time next week, and I'll finally be rocking the ZC.

Re: ZC into Del Sol
Well, its at my friends. We have two garages and two pole barns there. So I'm getting the space they give me, I'm hoping its a garage so I can throw a torpedo heater in there to stay warm. If you change your mind, you're welcome to come out. This is our first Honda, so winging it a little.

Re: ZC into Del Sol
Damn, that cold out there? Well now they're calling for snow Friday. I can hardly afford the swap let alone fly in help haha.
A quick question, I'm missing the front torque mount for my current engine. Mounts where my a/c would be. I'm looking to find one, but doubt I can get one by Friday. Think this will cause a problem?
I'm not planning on roasting tires, I'm installing an xtd stage 3 clutch. So I have 500 miles of break in.

Maybe he Mali meant like research. You know like. What bumps in the road to expect with wiring or that sort a thing. But ya never know I could be wrond. Maybe Mali was confused cuz he's got two sets of double d's all up on his chin?

Re: ZC into Del Sol
your probly planing on doing this but i would HIGHLY recomend redoing all wiring you have to with the engine out, if not remove the harness. it was a huge pain doing it with it all in the car today. not horrible. but would've been alot better/cleaner done out of car. good luck! i would print everything you might need before you start. i made my own "zc swap bible" so i have more then one refrence to look at to double check. it came in handy more then once...

Re: ZC into Del Sol
I've got it all planned out, this swaps been put on hold for 5 months now haha. As far as know what to do, I've got it down pat. Plus my friend and his ZC powered civic hatch is 5 min away if I need help.
My brother and him put his in. Hes been giving me the run down on everything so far.
I've converted to OBD1 so td-43u distributor and new injectors.
Have a custom made p05 ecu, since my del sol got the gay 70 hp dx engine in it, and has the awkward OBD1 one wire 02 sensor, rather than the four wire.
b8 transmission, no grinds and no pop outs unlike my turd now.
Already PM'd Mali about radiator hoses for the swap, so thats all taken care of.
This build has had so many snags already, and so much work to be done, I'm getting a little sick of it haha. I still need some parts though, I'm missing a front torque mount and need a new radiator fan (previous owner hacked it straight into a fuse so it runs all the time) cause the wires are hacked to crap.
Anyways Mali, if you can think of anything else about putting it in the del sol I missed let me know. Also if anyone else foresees any other problems let me know.

Boy, do we all hear ya there.
My CR-X sat on jack stands for 10 months before I heard it run for the first time. I purchased it with the DOHC ZC out of it, because it just spun crank rod bearings. The previous owner, or the one before that, did a total hack job on all the wiring. I had to purchase over 150$ just of Honda misc bolts that I failed to receive when I purchased it.
Once I finally heard it run, and pulled out of my driveway up the street, thats what made it all worth it.
Get very familiar with putting in your motor, because trust all of us when we say this, it will be coming out soon enough. Good luck man!

Re: ZC into Del Sol
Well, an update. The old motor is out!!!!!!!! Thank God, but the ZC is not in.
Took 8 hours to get it out. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. More stripped bolts and broken parts than I've ever seen. Had the motor almost all the way out, down to the last bolt on the shift linkage. What happens, its stripped. Tried and tried and tried, till finally we lamented to removing the entire shift assembly.
This was so ridiculously tiresome and lamenting, I snapped two pictures all day. Even though my camera was 10 inches away the whole time....
The only thing I can say is, Have you bled today? I have.
To tally it up, I need a cv boot, about 15 random bolts, new rear motor mount, shift linkage bushings, and could use a wire harness.

Tomorrow I need to mount up the clutch and tranny to the ZC, put on the valve cover, bolt up the motor mounts, and replace a cv boot.
Then hopefully Monday with the help of a keg of beer, cluster **** and beat the shit into my car till it works. Thank you and goodnight!
