nnooooooo you REALLY dont want to use those pistons. Because of the ZC head volume, the compression will be like ~7:1. You could run almost 30psi of boost on pump gas...but i dont think you really want to do that. To get 300whp using those pistons you would have to push 26-27psi+ of boost because of the compression.
Im a big supporter of compression. Honda heads are designed to work with higher compression, we can get away with it without as much detination. So why fight it ya know?
And for that same reason, you cant just drop in any old 1.6litre piston. The deck height is also different on the ZC. You want to get a piston that is made specificly for the ZC. A 9.5:1 compression piston for a d16Z6 will get you 8.2:1 compress on a ZC motor.
With all that in mind, do your shopping correctly. Wiseco makes ZC spec pistons as does Endyn (which is also a Wiseco piston made to Endyn specs).
I personally have 9:1 compression Wiseco pistons in my ZC. They have a very small dome and arnt dished.
Wesico 9:1 compression ZC pistons
Now imagine the compression using the Vitara pistons - checkout that DISH! Yay for ~7:1 compression!
